Internal Family Systems

I am a Certified IFS Therapist and Approved IFS Clinical Supervisor for other therapists.   I am Level 3 trained (the highest level), which I was lucky enough to do with Richard Schwartz, PhD, the founder of Internal Family Systems.   I have also assisted multiple times as a Program Assistant training other therapists in IFS.

I have found IFS's approach unique and relatable -we all have different parts of us, these parts can be in conflict i.e. "You should go work out" vs "I just want to sit on the couch and chill"; parts of us can carry burdens of beliefs ("I don't matter", "I'm too much", "I shouldn't need/want help"), emotions (sad, anxious, insecure, lonely)  from things that happened to us earlier in life, especially in childhood; we also have an inner wiser Self who is not a part, and we can learn ways to "hang out in" and be governed more by this wiser Self.  And we do this work with self-compassion and kindness, not with labeling,  judgement and self-criticism.  Most people walk in with a lot of that going on!  And how's that been working??

Lately I've been contacted by a number of clients who heard from someone (friend or professional) who recommended IFS therapy, but they don't know much about it.  If that describes you, then I recommend a few links:

In both my personal and professional experience IFS provides a clear road-map towards understanding and helping with issues and problems we all can face in life.
